Oklahoma Supreme Court Reverses Itself on the Removal of Identifiers
Just yesterday, we posted a letter on employeescreen University urging those who wish to continue conducting background checks in the state of Oklahoma to write a letter to the court expressing their concerns over the court’s recent ruling that personal identifiers be removed from court records.
Okay. So maybe you were going to write or wanted to write but never did. Don’t worry about it. The court has already seen the light. I’m kind of shocked it happened so fast.
NewsOK now reports, “The Oklahoma Supreme Court today rescinded its controversial rules that would limit public access to court information on its Web site and in court files, saying it wanted to give the issue further study and consideration.”
This is great news for those conducting and using background checks in the state of Oklahoma. Had the ruling taken affect there would be next to no method for confirming who the conviction belonged to.
